Westwind welcomes letters to the editor, and we print as many as space allows. Letters must address the content of the magazine, so please refer to a specific article or item from the magazine when you write. We also print your city and state with your letter, so please remember to include them. Most letters are edited for space, usage, style, and clarity. In cases where the edit is substantial and risks distorting the substance or spirit of your opinion, you will be allowed to review our edit and make changes. As with any magazine, the editors reserve the right to decide whether a letter is acceptable for publication.
From My Point of View
Westwind prints one 850-word column in each issue. The topic may or may not be university related and may be treated humorously or seriously. We are especially looking for submissions that reflect a personal experience.
Graduates and former students, faculty and staff are invited to send alumnote information. Many alumnotes are edited for length and style. Alumnotes will also appear on the magazine's website. Although we check names and class years, we cannot verify the accuracy of every fact in Alumnotes.
Family members of deceased alumni (graduates and former students, faculty and staff) are invited to send information about their family member. We print the following: name, date and location of birth, date and location of death, and the names and hometowns of immediate family survivors (spouse, father, mother, and children). On occasion we do publish a slightly extended note with a photo. Priority selections are made for alumni who had an especially strong connection to fellow alumni during or after college. Please send a photo and biography information if you wish us to consider your family member for an extended note.
